Waggonner & Ball Architects / New Orleans, LA

Waggonner & Ball Architects is an award winning architectural and planning firm located in New Orleans’ historic Garden District. Led by David Waggonner and Mac Ball, the 19 person firm has designed projects in the educational, retail, office, religious, government, residential, and planning categories. Inspired by and familiar with New Orleans’ rich and diverse array of neighborhoods from its work on projects throughout Orleans Parish, Waggonner & Ball also participated in the post-Katrina Unified New Orleans Plan, designed the Recovery Plan for St. Bernard Parish, and orchestrated Dutch Dialogues, a storm water management and flood protection charrette in partnership with engineering experts from the Netherlands.

In concert with each client’s mission and program, belief in the primacy of site and the land and respect for the importance of context and culture influence the firm’s approach to architectural form. Techniques of construction and the nature of materials available in the particular locale are criteria precedent to design. The combination of an understanding of history with a rooted yet critical appreciation of regional vernaculars has resulted in the work becoming focused on concerns more fundamental than style. Employing a modern sensibility with a commitment to sustainable design, Waggonner & Ball attempts to get to the essence of architecture, which is timeless.
